Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy Action Fleet toys?

Action Fleet toys can be found at your local Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Fred Meyer, or other similar department store. As with all Star Wars items, Action Fleet are released to stores as they are produced and stores are limited to stock on hand. If you are looking for a specific Action Fleet toy, select the one you want in the SWAF Archive then look for the "Where To Buy" section on the item page. These links will take you directly to online stores where you can buy that hard-to-find Action Fleet item you are looking for! You can also look to the SWAF Shop for a list of what new Action Fleet products are currently available for purchase from online stores.

What is Action Fleet?

Action Fleet is a series of toys in the Micro Machines family of products. The toys are in a much larger scale than the traditional Micro Machines product, have greater detail, and also feature moving parts and removable figures. The Action Fleet line of toys was produced by Galoob starting in 1995. Hasbro bought Galoob in 1997 and integrated the Micro Machines products, including Action Fleet, into their 1999 Star Wars lineup in time for the release of the first new Star Wars film in 16 years, The Phantom Menace.

Is the Action Fleet line of toys limited to Star Wars?

No. There have also been Action Fleet releases from the Aliens, Predator, and Starship Troopers movie franchises but this site only covers the Star Wars Action Fleet products.

Are Action Fleet toys still being produced?

After a three year wait Hasbro finally started to produce new Star Wars Action Fleet toys in 2002. The line has consisted of repainted Action Fleet toys from past releases and new toys based on designs from Attack of the Clones and other films in the saga.

What's the difference between the SWAF Archive and the Quick Search?

The SWAF Archive is a comprehensive list of all Action Fleet products. They are all listed by their actual product name and sorted by Series (Classic, Episode I, etc.) then Type (Single Pack, Series Alpha, etc.). This gives you a great overview of the history of the Action Fleet toy line and every item in this list links to a product page describing that item in more detail. The SWAF Archive can be accessed from any page by the link in the Site Sections area on the left.

The Quick Search is located near the top of the screen on every page in the site and allows you to jump right to an Action Fleet product page without having to go to the SWAF Archive first. Series is totally ignored when searching with this feature. Products are instead listed alphabetically by Vehicle name, Beast name, etc. Selecting an item that was never sold individually, such as the Dewback or Speeder Bike, will take you to a page that gives you the details for that item and tells you what products it was sold with. The Quick Search menu also contains a list of every product page which contains an image of a prototype.

What is the naming convention used in the SWAF Archive?

Vehicle names will always be listed by the proper name of the vehicle, followed by the name of the character who owned the vehicle when applicable. For example, Anakin's Podracer will actually be listed as "Podracer, Anakin's". Vehicles that include the name of a species, as opposed to a character, will not be altered because the species name is part of the proper name of the vehicle. The Jawa Sandcrawler will still be listed as "Jawa Sandcrawler" and the Gungan Sub will still be referred to as "Gungan Sub".

Why do some product pages have a listing in the Overview with a yellow background?

The yellow background signifies that the listing is for a prototype whereas the alternating white/gray listings are actual retail products.

Why doesn't this site include a price guide?

Price guides tend to dictate market prices instead of just reporting them and therefore a price guide will never be included in this site. Reporting prices also encourages the practice of toy scalping which takes the enjoyment out of collecting altogether.

Why don't you list all of the packing variations for each item?

Most packaging variations go beyond the scope of this site. I don't collect package variations myself so it's pretty hard to track them all down. Most of these variations are extremely minor and since they aren't variations of the actual toys themsleves I have decided not to list them for each individual item. There will be a section added to this site in the future that details the different types of packaging and display stands.

Will there be more images of Action Fleet products added to the site in the future?

There will be more photos added to the site, including pictures of loose Action Fleet products, as soon I find the time available to add them. If you have a photo of a rare variation or something similar please send me an email in the Contact SWAF section.

Where can I find other Action Fleet collectors?

The Micro Machines forum on SirStevesGuide.com is the best place to converse with other Action Fleet collectors. Another good forum can be found at Rebelscum.com.

How can I contribute information, report errors or omissions?

Comments, suggestions are always welcome as are reports of errors or omissions. There are so many variations it is hard to keep track of them all, let alone get photos of each and every one. Go to the Contact SWAF section to send an email. Attachments are not allowed in the Contact SWAF email form but if you mention that you have an image to send you can do so after you receive a response.
